Fees back to traders
In shortA third of every fee comes back to traders in $HILL, split by how much each of them traded.
A third of every fee goes back to the people who paid it, in $HILL.
How it's worked out
Every trade you make on The Hill, buy or sell, on any chain, counts towards your volume. Your share of the rebate pot is your volume divided by everyone's volume over the period.
| You traded | $5,000 in the week |
| Everyone traded | $1,000,000 |
| Your share | 0.5% of the week's rebate pot |
| The pot | 0.5% of $1,000,000 = $5,000, spent buying $HILL |
| You get | $25 of $HILL |
Which is, by design, exactly a third of the fees you paid.
However the numbers move, your rebate is a third of the fees you paid: the pot is a third of everyone's fees and you get your share of it. It's paid in $HILL bought on the market, never minted.
How you get it
Rebates are bought on the market and credited to your profile. Claim sends them to your wallet. We bundle claims (weekly, or once yours passes a small minimum) to avoid paying network fees on tiny amounts.
Why $HILL and not cash
Because a cash rebate leaves. A $HILL rebate is a buy on the market, paid to someone who's already on The Hill. Every trader on the platform ends up holding the platform's coin, bought with real fee income, and the buying never stops as long as the trading doesn't.
