The king

In shortThe king is whoever has the biggest profit in dollars right now. Free bags can't be king.

Every hill has one. The king holds the flag at the top and wears the gold.

Who is king

The king is the holder with the largest profit in dollars on that coin right now. Not the largest bag, not the earliest buyer: the biggest unrealised gain.

That's it. The flag passes the moment someone else's profit is bigger, whether because the price moved, because the old king sold, or because a new buyer's position grew.

The biggest percentage gain isn't the king; the biggest dollar profit is. ava is up the most, but bigmike's bag is bigger, so once the price clears his entry he takes the flag. kol_dan got the coin free: a bigger "profit" than either, and never king.

Free bags don't count

A wallet that got the coin for free (an airdrop to an influencer, a dev allocation) is in "profit" from the first second, but they risked nothing. Those wallets wear a flag (AIRDROP or DEV) and can't take the crown. The king is always someone who actually bought.

Why people fight for it

Being king is visible. Your martian wears gold, your flag flies at the top of the hill, and every trader who opens the coin sees you first. People chase it for clout, and that is exactly the point: a hill where someone is always trying to take the top is a hill people watch.
